An Evaluation for C.S.F. Glucose by Uristix

Abstract

|
Ninty two C.S.F. samples were screened for glucose at Dept. of Pediatricsof Taegu Presbygterian Hospital by Benedict´s test. Using measured quantaties of C.S.F. amd uristixdesigned originally for urine glucose.
The following results were obtained.
1. Uristix reading of moderate or greater and color changes in 3 or more tubes in the Benedict´s test were similarly specific in identifying normal value.
2. Color changes in 2 or fewer tube in Benedict´s test or Uristix reading of light or less identified low glucose readings.
3. The overidentification of low readings was more marked for Uristix than Benedict´s test.
4. A combination of two test was found to be reasonable satistactory in screening for low C.S.F. glucose.
